The Sharon Academy

Welcome to The Sharon Academy (TSA)

Dear Members of the TSA Community,

Thank you for taking the time to read about The Sharon Academy (TSA). Your willingness to peruse this information indicates your strong interest in education. Good educational practices and outcomes are no accident; they are the direct result of the active engagement of community members, parents, students, and faculty. Thank you for joining such an important conversation.

TSA can best be described as a hybrid of public and private education. As such, it can define itself in rather unique terms — terms that allow the school to adjust to the changing needs of our culture. Hallmarks of TSA include several basic assumptions that are essential ingredients of a successful education:

  • Students need to be articulate in communicating their knowledge, both verbally and in writing,

  • Students need to work constructively in groups,

  • Students need to be able to advocate for themselves and effectively utilize other members of the community in support of their learning, both social and emotional; and

  • Students need to befriend the notion that hard work plays an essential role in all aspects of their growth.

Understanding, trust, and respect form the backbone of any learning enterprise and the faculty at TSA works as diligently as any I have known to develop those capacities in our students. Trust and respect are the currency we trade as we help adolescents negotiate the challenges of their teenage years. Without those two essential ingredients, much of our work would be impossible.

Our ultimate goal may seem lofty but is nonetheless imperative. Now more than ever, it is essential for us to nurture a generation of learners who are confident of their own abilities, strong and effective communicators, and engaged team members who are committed to the betterment of the human condition. TSA helps students discover who they are, not who we are.

Please peruse our website for more information or call the school to schedule a visit. We enjoy welcoming visitors to our two campuses.

Thank you for your interest. It sustains us.

Sincerely,

Michael Livingston

Head of School

Dear TSA Friends and Families,

Hello from The Sharon Academy middle school. Look around our website and then, please, come visit us in person. We invite both parents and students to stop in to just look around, or stay longer to observe our classes in session. The middle school strives to offer a rigorous curriculum which addresses the social and developmental needs of young adolescents in a safe and nurturing environment. We work hard, but do a lot of laughing in the process. Come see for yourself!

Sincerely,

Pam Ward

Head of Middle School
