Physics students use the scientific method to develop the following skills: using metrics for measuring, graphing data using spreadsheet software, expressing relationships in both words and mathematics, and using theories to explain phenomena. A physics student will be able to explain how Newton's laws affect the outcome of a soccer game. The same student will be able to apply those same theories to design a game that could be played on the moon. The student will understand why car speakers change electric impulses into sound waves, while eyes pick up visible light waves. Specific topics include: motion, Newton's laws, forces, energy, law of conservation of energy, momentum, gravity, relativity, sound waves, the ear, light waves, the eye, electromagnetic spectrum, the atom, electricity, and magnetism.
