The Sharon Academy recognizes that physical activity is important for a healthy lifestyle. Students are encouraged to pursue physical activities beyond the minimum stipulated by the State. Students at TSA are required to complete 2 credits of physical education to meet State requirements. One half credit is awarded each year for the successful completion of a minimum of three hours per week of physical activity. This can be completed in any of the following ways.
1) An elective with a physical component that adds up to at least three hours per week of activity. One quarter elective credit is given for a “satisfactory” in this class and the hours count towards the total for the physical education requirement for the year.
2) A school sport. Attendance will be verified by the coach and must add up to at least three hours per week to qualify. One season counts for the required hours for that quarter.
3) An outside organized activity. Attendance will be verified by the coach at the club and must add up to at least three hours per week to qualify. The athletic director will verify if the activity qualifies for credit. A record of a minimum of three hours per week for one marking period counts for the required hours for that quarter.
4) An exercise plan approved by the school and monitored by a parent. A record of a minimum of three hours per week for one marking period counts for the required hours for that quarter.
