The Sharon Academy

TSA’s current student body consists of 167, 7-12 graders that commute up to 60 miles daily in order to attend this unique academy. As a state-approved, independent school, we base our tuition on the state average, meaning that a student who comes from a town without a middle or high school is funded by their town money and no additional tuition cost is incurred by the family. As a result of this low tuition, on average, 75% of our students are publicly funded and 23% will be first-generation college students. We cannot generalize our students in statistics though; instead, here are some highlights about our students and school that make this community truly unique.

• Read Greye Smyth's ('09) Senior Exhibition Paper: A Machine That Would Go of Itself: The History, Design, and Applications of the Stirling Engine.
• View the video of TSA's performance at the 2008 UVM TAC Competition (this performance earned this team the Grand Prize!).  Watch as freshmen team: Josephine Adamski, Tim Woodin, Cedar Farwell, and Jake Hurwitz set up and run a wind powered vehicle to carry 32 weighted golf balls up an 8 foot ramp in 5 minutes.
